Biography - (Spec)
This content piece was written as part of an assignment. I was tasked with writing about a mature lady based on a photo of her. She was wearing a pale blue sweater with a twinkle in her eye and a joyful smile. She was sitting around a table with friends, enjoying a cuppa. Let me introduce you to Rita.
Rita is eighty-five and lives with her daughter, son-in-law, and two young grandsons aged seven and nine. Rita believes being around her grandsons keeps her young and on her toes. Rita enjoys good health, which she puts down to having plenty of fun with family and friends, a healthy diet and gentle regular exercise. She has a great social life and belongs to several groups. Rita enjoys a good game of Mah-Jong with the girls every Wednesday morning, followed by a hearty lunch at their favourite café. One of her favourite mantras is “Variety is the spice of life,” which motivates her to stay active and interested in trying new things. Rita also volunteers at the Salvation Army opportunity shop once a fortnight, and as she still has her driver’s license, she delivers Meals on Wheels every Thursday. She enjoys regular contact with people and believes in giving back to others. Known for her keen sense of humour, Rita loves playing odd pranks on friends, particularly unsuspecting gentlemen of a mature age. Reliving the element of surprise and ensuing laughter brings her endless joy. Another of Rita’s greatest joys is music and musical theatre. She enjoyed many musicals and concerts over the years with her late husband, Stan, and she has continued to attend as many as she can. Rita loves an occasion she can dress up for, and she invariably resorts to her favourite colour, baby blue, which brings out the colour of her eyes.
